बोलतो मराठी ऐकतो मराठी जाणतो मराठी मानतो मराठी …..

The rich heritage of Maharashtrian culture was depicted splendidly by the teachers and students of Amrita Vidyalayam on the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Guarav Din. The entire assembly consisting of thought, news and pledge were conducted in Marathi on the occasion of the birth anniversary of noted Marathi litterateur V.V. Shirwadkar alias ‘Kusumagraj.’ Students dressed in traditional “nav vaari” invited our School Administrator Brni Sharanyamritaji and Principal Mrs. Anupama Rao, and started the cultural program with a prayer song. “Labhale amhas bhagya”, a Marathi bhasha abhiman geet was sung by the students at the start of the programme. Students extolled the beauty of Matrubhasha through eloquent speeches which outlined the culture, language and lifestyle of Maharashtra which is the 3rd largest state of India. Glorious tributes were paid to the great Marathi Saint – Sant Eknath by the students by performing Bharud, which is used to create social awareness about the current situation of the Marathi language. A power packed performance of Powada by students enthralled the audience. “Mangalagaur” –a celebration of Marathi festivals and culture was depicted by the young students by performing a dance. “Maharashtra Geet” was sung by little stars – our primary students. The program came to an end with “Pasaydan”- a soulful group song rendition by the teachers that lingered in the ears and minds of all after the program was over.
