Amritam project Sevamritam is the initiative of Amma, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, aimed at moulding ideal and compassionate citizens out of young learners. Under this project, students bring a handful of rice every Tuesday, which is collected and donated to the nearby slum dwellers.
Often, teams comprising of students from a particular class, along with the in-charge teachers visit slums, identify impoverished families, survey their daily need of food and essential items, and go personally to donate it to them.
In the month of August 2023, students collected almost 135 kg of rice and donated it to 15 families living near Nerul Station. Each family was given 9 kg of rice and 2.5 kg Bajra.
We got an overwhelming response from students and parents who have happily contributed towards this noble cause. Also, the students who have visited these places feel humbled by the experience, and have pledged to share their resources with the less-privileged section of the society.
