AMRITAM PROJECT REPORT – August 2019

Sevamritam – The joy of giving is greater than the joy of receiving. This was clearly felt when the contributions by teachers, students and parents of Amrita Vidyalayam towards Sevamritam helped Amrita Vidyalayam to reach out to the Adivasi village of Ursegaon, situated in Dahanu Taluka of Palghar District. Each pada consists of 80 households and is currently facing acute shortage of food and essential commodities. Principal Brni. Rekha invited a few villagers to the school along with their children. The school came to know about their difficulty through Ms. Sushmita Gaonkar, representative of an NGO called Shiv Sahyadri Pratishthan. The school donated around 300 kg of rice, clothes and stationery items consisting of 200 pencils and pens, 60 geometry boxes, 275 notebooks, drawing books and story books for the children going to the Zilla Parishad school situated in the village. Our students had helped the teachers to neatly pack the rice into gunny bags, and the books in cartons. The visiting children were initially a bit shy, but enjoyed interacting with our students. The villagers thanked the school for this initiative and also invited us to visit them.

Sealing of Desires – A total of Rs. 6000 was contributed towards Sealing of Desire, some of which was used to buy stationary items for the students of Ursegaon village. The class that contributed the most towards Sealing of Desire was 4B followed by 6B, 8A and 8B. Thank you all so much for all the generous contributions. It means a lot.

Wealth from Waste – 10 bags were stitched from old school uniforms under the Wealth from Waste project by students of Class 5C.
