Pilot Launch of Saukhyam Reusable Pads

Every disposable pad has the equivalent of 4 plastic bags in it. This plastic would contaminate the environment for hundreds of years to come. When we burn the used pads, harmful furans and dioxins are released into the atmosphere, which not only pollutes the air that we breathe, but the environment as a whole.

To combat climate change, support zero-waste communities, empower women, and transform lives – Mata Amritanandamayi Math did the pilot launch of Saukhyam – Reusable Pads made of banana fibre in association with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation on 29th of December. Additional commissioner of NMMC, Ms. Sujatha Dilip Dhole addressed the audience, and congratulated Team Saukhyam for the wonderful initiative, and assured support from NMMC for the project. She was accompanied by Ms. Dhanshree Gurav, Director of WASH who works for Shelter and Water for low-income communities. Administrator Brni Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji addressed the audience and spoke about Amma’s life and the importance of love for nature and environment. Around 150 girl students of classes 8 and 9 with their mothers were part of the program. All the girls were given free kits of Saukhyam reusable pads with a promise that they would use it and be carriers of the change we want to see in this world to save Mother Nature.
