DIWALI CELEBRATION 2023

Diwali, the festival of lights, was celebrated at Amrita Vidyalayam on 10th November 2023. A special assembly was arranged by the students. They spoke about the significance of the festival – how good always conquers evil, and why and how Diwali is celebrated across India. Besides sensitizing students about the ill-effects of crackers, they also shared the guidelines of environment-friendly options for celebrating Diwali.

We conducted a gamut of activities to celebrate the festival, such as Diya making and decoration. Students exhibited their ingenuity by making paper diyas and decorated earthen diyas with vibrant colours. They expressed their creativity and artistic talent through rangoli making activity. Beautiful lanterns, torans, pompom flowers, paper crackers, and tissue paper flowers were also made.

To acquaint Amrita Nursery students with their culture, teachers explained the significance of the festival – like the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. Stories of Diwali were shown, boards were decorated, and students came in colourful dresses. They brought sweets from home and shared them with each other, wishing Happy Diwali. Various craft activities were also conducted. FC 3 decorated diyas, FC 2 created lantern from paper glass and decorated it. Nursery students made diyas with thumb printing and paper sticking in their drawing books.

Throughout the celebration of Diwali, all the students participated whole heartedly and with great enthusiasm in the activity of their choice. The activities permeated the school premises with an atmosphere of togetherness and hope. The young students proved that creativity and talent do not have boundaries. Their radiant faces and the colorful dresses that they wore added a festive fervour to the celebration. It was a joyful experience overall.
