DUSSEHRA CELEBRATION

Celebrating festivals is an integral part of learning at Amrita Vidyalayam. Being a diverse country, through such celebrations, students not only learn the significance behind the festival, but they also learn to embrace other traditions and cultures. Celebrations bring the school community together, building a close bond between the children.

Keeping up with this tradition, the festival of Dussehra was celebrated by our pre-primary students on 23rd October 2023. Dussehra is a major Indian festival celebrated for 10 days, and marks the end of Navratri. Dussehra signifies the victory of Lord Rama over the demon Ravan, and hence it symbolizes the triumph of good over evil.

Children came dressed in ethnic Garba dress. They enjoyed activities related to Dussehra like Sona leaf printing, dandiya making with paper, drawing and colouring Ravana, and listening to the story of Dussehra. Teachers also shared valuable information about the festival, thus enhancing their knowledge.

Administrator Brni Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji performed Devi’s aarti, blessed all and distributed Prasad to the tiny tots.
