MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

‘Mental health is a universal human right.’

Amma says, “Fundamentally what everyone needs is mental strength and confidence, to manage the mind just as we manage the outside world”.

At Amrita Vidyalayam Juinagar, we believe that a healthy mind rests in a healthy body.

As per the directive from CBSE, in order to carry out the ‘MANODARPAN’ initiative of the Ministry of Education which covers a wide range of activities to provide psychosocial support to students, teachers and families for mental health and emotional well-being, a Mental Health Week was observed from October 4th to 10th in connection with World Mental Health Day.

The event started with students from classes 3 to 10 being sensitized about the importance of channelizing emotions and feelings in a constructive way, the importance of mental health, the factors affecting it, and seeking acceptance. Heartfelt expressions of the students’ feelings and emotions were depicted through the posters, drawings and slogans. The main aim of this activity was to help everyone understand their emotions and feelings better.

Students of higher classes prepared a skit for the assembly in order to inform fellow students that instead of fighting their internal demons alone, seeking proper help for mental health is not harmful, but for their own good. Teachers wrote self-affirmation quotes on the positivity board with colorful sticky notes exhibiting their happiness and wishes.

The Principal addressed the teachers and gave a thought-provoking conclusion to the awareness program by distributing small cards with positive messages. She asked the teachers to contemplate taking their mental health seriously for better health.
