Children are very vulnerable for the smallest of disasters. Their safety and protection in the school campus is our utmost priority. To ensure safety of students, teachers, and staff during any fire emergency in school and to know more about reducing the impact of fire during an accident, a mock fire drill was conducted at Amrita Vidyalayam on 15th September, 2023.
The session was about understanding the basic nature of fire and causes of its breakout, and how we can protect ourselves under such circumstances. The importance of fire safety was highlighted by citing real life examples; use of firefighting gadgets like fire extinguishers was demonstrated by the team of fire officers from Vashi Fire station to help students understand and act on time during a fire breakout.
Real life training was also provided. A few students and staff were made to use the fire extinguishers to help them practically understand how they work and operate. Around 15 teachers and staff, as well as 150 students of Class 9, and members of the student council participated in the mock drill.
The team of officials who visited the campus laid emphasis on precautions that every school must follow to ensure that each individual in the campus is safe.
