WORKSHOP SESSIONS FOCUSED ON THE BASICS OF FIRST AID

THE BASICS OF FIRST AID

Classes – III to V

The students of classes III to V of Amrita Vidyalayam were apprised of the importance of safety and first aid during the workshop on “Basics of First Aid” by school nurse Ms. Sunita. The workshop sessions focused on the basics of first aid, and how to provide first aid for wounds, bleeding, sprain, etc.

The importance of first aid was explained to the students as it is the emergency care given immediately to an injured person until appropriate medical treatment can be accessed in a hospital, or before going to a doctor.

The students were also made aware that a first aid box is a collection of supplies and equipment used to give medical treatment, and that it should be kept in the right place with the right up-to-date items. The usage and importance of the items contained in a first aid box was also explained to the students.

This activity helped the children to learn how to make their own first aid box that can enable them to care of themselves in any kind of emergency. Students had hands-on experience of dressing a wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part, etc.
