Indian Festivals Manifest at Amrita Vidyalayam Annual Day

Amrita Vidyalayam, Navi Mumbai celebrated our 14th Annual Day on December 22, 2015, presenting a unique opportunity to witness the ‘Festival Dance Forms of India’.

The ceremonial lamp was lit by Chief Guest Sri Sudhakar Sonawane, Mayor, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Dr. Srikumar Banerjee, Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at BARC, Mr. Jaywant Sutar, former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission, Mrs. Sangeetha Shinde Alphonso, Senior Inspector, Nerul Police Station, Br. Avyayamrita Chaitanya, in-charge of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Nerul, and other dignitaries.

The Annual Report presented by Brni. Rekha N. highlighted the success story of the school which includes consistently achieving 100% pass for the last 4 years in board exams, and championship stories that prove that the school is well on its way to scaling heights of glory.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane lauded the Math’s contribution in the field of value based education and its contribution to the people of Navi Mumbai. Dr. Srikumar Banerjee inspired parents to follow the path set by Amma in the field of value based education and train children for the development of each child’s creativity, intelligence and character. Br. Avyayamrita Chaitanyaji spoke about the foundation laid by the school, which will enable self-fulfilment of the student’s professional, family and social life.

Certificates and medals were awarded to students who excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities including sports. Against the back drop of a truly beautiful stage step-up and plush decorations, the evening touched a chord with everyone as each festival was celebrated. The stage was set ablaze as each festival was brought to life by the energetic performances of students with their vividly coloured costumes, sparkling make-up and enchanting looks. The Annual Day programme symbolized how the various festivals of India spread cheer across all communities in India throughout the year. The programme came to an end with the rendition of the National Anthem and the chanting of Shanthi Mantra.
