INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 2024

International Day of Yoga has been celebrated every year on June 21st since its inception in 2015. Yoga, an invaluable gift from India’s ancient tradition, is a practice that aims to purify the mind, body, and soul. This year, Amrita Vidyalayam practiced the common IDY protocol on June 21st from 7:30 a.m. onwards, led by administrator Brni Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji.

The event featured an interesting session on Swara Yoga by Dr. Trupti Tanawade-Digge, a dentist practicing in Navi Mumbai for the last 25 years. An ardent devotee of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi and a disciple of Swami Charanashritji who is one of the few masters preserving and teaching the sacred science of Swara Yoga, Dr. Trupti explained the benefits of Swara Yoga and how to use both sides of the brain to their optimum capacity through this practice.

Administrator Brni. Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji conducted the IDY yoga protocol session, highlighting the various benefits of yoga for students. The protocol included warm-up exercises, various sitting and standing asanas, and breathing exercises. Throughout the day, 1700 students from class 1 to 12 participated in the yoga sessions in different batches. Teachers also participated enthusiastically in their own session at the end of the day. Pre-primary students performed animal yoga, showcasing their flexibility with different yoga postures.

Overall, International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and spirit on the school campus.
