World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the environment. To reinforce our responsibility towards mother Earth, the students of Amrita Vidyalayam observed Environment Week from 5th June.
The celebration began with an assembly speech on the importance of protecting and conserving our environment. The tiny tots of Class I participated in a tree plantation drive, nurturing and planting saplings on the school campus. The school also organised a poster-making activity for Class 10 on ‘Environment Sustainability.’ Students coloured their ideas with prudent thoughts and words.
The celebrations of the environment week proceeded to a conclusion with students of Class 10 taking the pledge to be considerate towards the environment and protect nature for sustaining a healthy living, thus bringing the gathering to the realization that humans have not inherited the Earth from their ancestors, but have borrowed it from our children, and hence it is critical that we respect it.
