Nanhamunnaraahi hu, desh ka sipaahi hu, bolo mere sang Jai Hind, Jai Hind Jai Hind…
I am sure you would have sung the song as you read the lyrics above. The spirit of unity and of being one nation is celebrated each year on the 26th of January. We were fortunate to witness India’s 73rd Republic Day this year. It is an occasion to celebrate our Indian-ness.
The staff of Amrita Nursery and Vidyalayam, Juinagar were present physically in school to celebrate the day in a ‘low-key affair’ due to the on-going pandemic situation where certain criteria such as maintaining adequate physical distance and being masked throughout the function had to be taken into consideration. Pujya Swami Avyayamritananda Puriji was greeted by everyone and the celebration began as he unfurled the national flag. The National Anthem, short speeches by Swamiji and the School Principal, and a patriotic song by teachers followed. The day concluded with the National Song and Shanti mantra.
We believe that patriotism strengthens the sense of duty among all the citizens, especially children, and hence this day was celebrated virtually by our Amrita Nursery students. Students were present in their traditional clothes. A short video on Republic Day was shown by their respective teachers and the National Anthem was sung after their activity was conducted. The Nursery students celebrated the spirit of oneness by making Tricolour Badges. The fanfold method indeed kept them going.
Jr.KG students celebrated the day by making Tricolour Peacock.
Sr. KG decided to make Republic Day greeting cards and presented them to their loved ones as they proudly greeted each one “Happy Republic Day”.
