There is no mantra higher than that of the feet of the Guru,
There is no merit higher than the worship of the Guru.
All knowledge resides in those PADUKAS.
Guru Poornima was celebrated in Amrita Vidyalayam with great reverence. The auspicious occasion was graced by the presence of Pujya Swamiji Br. Avyayamrita Chaitanya. The programme commenced with the chanting of Guru Stotram and Guru Paduka Stotram during which Swamiji offered ‘panchamrut’ at Amma’s holy lotus feet. Flowers were offered at Her holy feet amidst the chanting of Amma’s Ashtotaram. Swamiji addressed parents, teachers and students, sharing his thoughts on Amma’s divine love for every being in the universe, both animate and inanimate. Citing the example of the lives of Yudhishthira and Duryodhana, he enlightened us about the effects of positive and negative thoughts. Yudhishthira always found goodness in others regardless of how bad they were and Duryodhana always found negativity in others regardless of how good they were. He said that, in the same manner, Amma always finds goodness in others irrespective of their nature and transfers her positive energy when she hugs a person, infusing positive energy into everything she touches.
The Guru Puja was followed by Matru Puja where students from grades 7 and 8 worshipped their mothers, sitting at their mothers’ feet and following the detailed instructions given by Swamiji. The children performed aarti and offered flowers to their mothers while chanting ‘matru devo bhava’ 18 times. Later on, Swamiji, along with Prnicipal Brni. Rekha sang bhajans. Teachers performed Amma’s aarti and the programme ended with the chanting of Shanti Mantra. Prasad was distributed by Swamiji.
