Two new initiatives to encourage reading habit in children were introduced during the Reading Week June 19th to 23rd.
Book Review – Students will give a review of the book they read during the week and will highlight what the book conveyed to them. A brief outline of the book without revealing the suspense will motivate other students to read that particular book. Students have been encouraged to read books in English, Hindi and Marathi in order to introduce the wide range of literary works available in India.
Vocabulary building – Each day 5 new words must be written in each class. The students will also use different sentences using these 5 words.
Passing the Book – An activity to involve every student during Library period was undertaken where only 1 book was read by a particular class. As the book was passed from one student to another, the interest level was maintained and the enthusiasm to read better was evident. A few minutes were spent to discuss the book.
