Students of classes 9 to 12 attended a workshop on Stress Management conducted by Brahmachari Ved Chaitanyaji, Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Navi Mumbai Centre, in the school auditorium on April 6, 2017.
Principal Brni. Rekha introduced Vedji, and told the students that the purpose of holding the workshop at the beginning of the academic year was to help them to channel their thoughts in an effective manner. It was a very interactive session where Swamiji urged students to talk about possible stress-producing situations that they may face, and how to develop a mentality that would help them to combat stress related thoughts. Based on personal experience, he guided students to take the right approach to studies and exams. He told them that it was not enough to merely study, but that they should lead a balanced life with healthy food, exercise, and sufficient sleep. He also talked about ways to retain what has been learnt by following the simple method of studying for at least half an hour every morning. The age old adage, “Early to bed and early to rise” which was followed by our ancestors would definitely help students to focus and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Making flow charts and lesson plans would help to reinforce what is learnt, and also prove to be beneficial during exams when they may not have sufficient time to go through the entire syllabus.
The workshop was well supported by interesting PowerPoint slides. With his vast experience in conducting Bal Vihars for children, he was able to adopt a friendly approach with the students. Students enjoyed his informal style and sought advice on time management. He certainly converted the word stress into an interesting subject.
The workshop concluded with a question and answer session, followed by the chanting of Shanthi Mantra.
