Amrita Vidyalayam, Juinagar celebrated its 16 th Annual Day on December 30, 2016. Aptly named ‘Reflection of Life’, students from pre-primary through grade 12 put up a stellar performance which was beautifully woven through a plethora of dance-drama, collaborating yoga, skating and taekwondo. Against the backdrop of a truly beautiful stage set-up and plush decorations, the four hour event touched a chord with everyone as it brought to life social issues such as gender discrimination, child labour, saving trees, women empowerment, farmer suicide, etc. The grand finale was a spectacular dance to “Ayi Giri Nandini” by students of 7th and 8th grades, depicting the strength of women by prostrating to goddess Durga.
The programme was graced by the presence of the Honourable Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai, Sri Hemant Nagrale, I.P.S. The Guests of Honour for the evening were Mr. K.K. Varkhedkar, Chief Engineer, CIDCO and Sri Vijay Menon, Training Panellist for IAS officers and Advisor of Aswamedha at IIM, Indore and Br. Avyayamrita Chaitanya, In-Charge, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Nerul.
The Annual Report was presented by Principal Brni. Rekha N. during the evening. It covered all the aspects of the school during the current academic year, chronicling new initiatives, events, celebrations, competitions and accolades won by students in academics, cultural events, sports, etc. She also thanked the parents for their involvement in every aspect of the school, and their overwhelming support for all causes undertaken by the school towards social responsibility.
The annual magazine, Amritanidhi was released by the Chief Guest. Quoting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Sri Hemant Nagrale in his inspiring speech said, “Dreams are those that do not let you sleep”, motivating students to aspire, set goals and be steadfast in pursuing their ambitions. Sri K.K. Varkhedkar detailed the ambitious projects undertaken by CIDCO for the satellite city and advised the young students to be focused, dedicated and work hard to accomplish their goals. Sri Vijay Menon commended the school on its strong commitment towards value based education, which he felt is a must for this millennial generation. Swamiji thanked the parents for their everlasting support in all the endeavours undertaken by the school, and expressed his gratitude to “Amma” for Her constant guidance. At the Prize Distribution ceremony, certificates and medals were awarded to students who excelled in academics and extra-curricular activities, including sports.
The colourful programme concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem and Shanthi Mantra.
