On Green Day, teachers and students came to school dressed up in various shades of green. “Amrita Market” was set up where green vegetables were sold by students acting as vendors. The young children also acted as customers and were adept at bargaining and getting a good deal. The children were also introduced to currency, and they exercised their active minds to calculate and weigh the produce before selling it. They also learnt to identify different vegetables. The lunch boxes of each student had a healthy green salad. The message “No to plastics” was followed religiously by the children, and they carried the vegetables in paper or cloth bags.
