Doctor’s day was celebrated in Amrita Vidyalayam on June 30th and July 1st. It is a day to appreciate and recognize the contribution and hard work of the medical fraternity throughout the world.
The students of Amrita Vidyalayam expressed gratitude by organising a special morning assembly on 30th June. The day was marked with a mime act by students of Class 12 that acknowledged the selfless service of doctors towards humanity.
A guest talk was held in the school on July 1st. The programme began with a prayer and lighting of the lamp by the Principal, Primary Headmistress and the guest speaker, Dr. Amit Pokharkar, Senior lecturer at D.Y. Patil College of Dentistry, and a practicing dentist from Navi Mumbai. A formal welcome was extended by the Principal to Dr. Amit Pokharkar.
Dr. Amit Pokharkar shared a PPT regarding the various dental problems faced by children, how to take care of their teeth, and reasons for tooth decay and cavity. Students of classes 5 and 6 attended the session with great curiosity and enthusiasm. He also shared some valuable information and tips on dental care like right way of brushing the teeth, rinsing, and flossing. The children listened with great interest, and came up with a lot of queries which were patiently answered by the doctor.
The programme ended with vote of thanks and Shanti Mantra.
