Amma says – The greatest strength of women lies in their innate motherhood, in their life-giving power. And this power can help women to bring about a far more significant change in society than men could ever accomplish.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Amrita Vidyalayam organised an event to celebrate the importance of woman. The whole program was led by the male staff as a mark of respect to women teachers on Women’s Day. The program began with the lamp lighting ceremony and prayer to seek blessings from AMMA.
Administrator Bri. Sharanyamrita Chaitanyaji elaborated on the importance of women in society during Vedic times. She explained about 5 types of Matas worshipped in India, Bhoomata, Gomata, Dehamata, Vedamata and Deshamata, all feminine versions of God. She cited Sindhutai Sapkal, a social worker and her achievements in adverse conditions. She also explained how the perception of women has changed in the modern world.
The Principal spoke about how women work from the heart and not by the mind. They believe in feelings and express themselves, and are always preferred as teachers as they have the capacity to love and teach young minds with compassion. She engaged the teachers in a few activities to make the session interactive.
This was followed by a short cultural presentation by the teachers. Every teacher was felicitated with a small gift expressing love and respect for their immense contribution to the society.
