Puppetry is a form of theatre or performance that involves the manipulation of puppets by a human called the puppeteer.
Puppets are extremely versatile. They can act as a school buddy or become a best friend for children. Puppets are positive influences within a preschool classroom. Puppets can model all types of mannerisms and emotions, giving children a way to relate to and understand a variety of different behaviors. Feelings such as patience, understanding, acceptance, self-control, and empathy can be addressed and explored through many types of puppet play. They are wonderful tools to trigger the attention of early learners and increase the motivation of students. Keeping in mind the enormous benefits of puppet show, our pre-primary teachers put up a splendid show yesterday. The children got to hear the story of “The Hare and the Tortoise”. They were thrilled when the puppets talked, moved and danced. The moral of the story was also explained. The entire room was in pin drop silence as the kids were transported to the world of puppets.
