Amrita Vidyalayam believes that the current generation should be made aware about the importance of Indian festivals because each festival is celebrated with a significant purpose. It is our duty to inculcate our traditional practices in our children. Makar Sankranti, the harvest festival was celebrated on the 14th of January 2022 all across India. Makar Sankranti is celebrated as Pongal in the southern regions of India, as Bihu in the eastern parts, Lohri in the northern regions and kite flying in the western regions, with great enthusiasm and spiritual fervour.

Teachers of classes I – V celebrated Makar Sankranti with their beloved students. They spoke to the students about the importance and the traditions of the celebration, and carried out some interesting activities. Ice-cream stick kites and paper kites were made, and traditional thalis were decorated with sweets and fruits. Pongal pots were painted beautifully. Greeting cards were designed with handwritten messages and wishes for their near and dear ones.
