INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2021

“We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back. We call upon our sisters around the world to be brave – to embrace the strength within themselves and realize their full potential.”

– Malala Yousafzai

October 11th is observed as International Day of the Girl Child every year. The aim of celebrating this day is to acknowledge the importance of the girl child and generate awareness about gender-based challenges such as child marriage, poor learning opportunities, discrimination, and violence. This day primarily focuses on the necessity to acknowledge the challenges that girls face around the globe and to empower them to fulfill their human rights.

The theme of International Day of the Girl Child 2021 was “DIGITAL GENERATION, OUR GENERATION”. In the age of the digital revolution where people are using technology in various ways to learn new skills and earn revenue, women and girls cannot be left behind.

Students of classes XI and XII discussed the issues faced globally by girl children and further went on to present their views as PPT presentations. We understand that the International Day of the Girl Child is quintessential in assisting young girls to get access to better health services, equal opportunities in education without gender-based discrimination or violence.

Let us all make the world a safe and a better place for the girl child!
