The school quadrangle of Amrita Vidyalayam resonated with the glory of Maharashtra on February 27, 2020. A host of activities were planned to honour the work of Shri V.V. Shirwadkar, the literary giant whose birthday is celebrated every year as Marathi Bhasha Diwas. The HOD of Marathi, Ms.Anagha Zarkar presented a memento to Principal Brni. Rekha and expressed her gratitude on behalf of all the teachers for her constant guidance and motivation. The performing students were dressed in traditional attire and took pride in adorning their heads with Puneri Pheta.
The activities started with the melodious rendition of Marathi Abhiman Geet, which was followed by a short speech by Sneha Shibe on the importance of the Marathi language. The richness of Marathi which has one of the oldest literature among modern languages, was exhibited very well by our students through their oratory skills which included a dialogue exchange on the importance of speaking the regional language at home, an energetic “Powada” depicting the valour of “ShoorveerTanaji” and a brilliant display of “Bharud”, one of the important folk arts of Maharashtra. The enthralling performances completely captivated the audience.
The national pledge was taken by all in Marathi, and the programme concluded with the chanting of Shanti Mantra.
