Medical Emergency and First Aid Facilities

Amrita Vidyalayam had organized a highly beneficial workshop on “Medical Emergency and First Aid Facilities” for students of classes 5 to 10 on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in the school auditorium. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Jaykar Ellis, President of The Heart Foundation, and was ably supported by NMCC (Disaster Management), Panvel Municipal Corporation and Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai. The interactive workshop focussed on following the 5 Golden C’s in case of medical emergencies, remaining Calm, Caring for the patient, Connecting with the patient, using Corrective medical measures and Calling for help.

An informative presentation on various types of medical emergencies such as bites, cuts, fractures, sprains, etc. helped students to relate to accidents which usually occur during play time or even at home. The presentation helped them to understand how preventive care during the golden hour following a critical injury can help save lives. The humorous manner in which Dr. Ellis communicated with the students helped them to interact freely with him, and they eagerly shared their experiences and answered questions based on the presentation.

A participation certificate along with a brochure containing details of medical emergencies and action to be taken, and a magnet containing an emergency number were distributed to all the students. Students were asked to write about their experience in the workshop; the best entries will be eligible for an award from the Mayor, NMMC.

Dr. Ellis thanked our Principal Brni. Rekha profusely for her help in arranging this session.
