To continuously enrich the minds of our students is a priority at Amrita Vidyalayam, and the students of Class 7 were fortunate to attend a workshop on ‘Personality Devleopment’ on August 29, 2019. Principal Brni. Rekha coordinated with Chinmaya Mission and arranged this workshop which was conducted by Pujya Swami Avyayananda Saraswati ji. Swami Avyayanandaji has been associated with Chinmaya Mission since a very young age, and the ardent curiosity to know the real purpose of life brought him to Sandeepany Sadhanalaya – the Gurukula of Chinmaya Mission, Mumbai where he studied Vedanta under the guidance of Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayanandaji.
The workshop began with a prayer after which Swamiji was welcomed with a garland. Swamiji lost no time in connecting with the students and the students were already eagerly geared to listen to him. He first ensured that the students sat in a correct posture before telling them a story of five fingers. His witty style of explaining coupled with the wonderful manner in which he wove the story with logical explanations ensured that the students were glued to him throughout his talk. Just as each of the five fingers is different in appearance as well as its function, an individual should discover the hidden aspects of his/her personality and nurture it, he said.
Swamiji also discussed the perils of digital invasion on young minds and advised students to stay away from social media platforms. The workshop concluded with a song “Mushkile aayegi aanedo, Sagar ki laharon ki tarah jaane do,” which conveyed a powerful message on how to overcome obstacles with a brave heart.
On behalf of Chinmaya Mission, Swamiji presented Principal Brni. Rekha a book called Life Management Techniques written by Pujya Swami Swaroopananda ji as a token of appreciation.
The workshop ended with vote of thanks and the chanting of Shanti Mantra.
