It looked like the stars had aligned themselves purposely to combine the auspicious Raksha Bandhan and the 73rd Independence Day of our nation.
The distinguished guest for the morning was Brigadier Sushil Bhasin who served in the Indian Army for 34 years, accompanied by Br. Avyayamrita Chaitanyaji. After retiring from the Army, Brigadier Sushil Bhasin harnessed his training experience to pursue his passion for training and co-founded Empower Camps. It is this passion that has led him to conduct around 600 corporate training programmes on leadership skills, decision making, communication, collaboration, trust and other behavioural issues in the financial, automobile, and hospitality sectors, as well as IT companies.
The celebrations started with the unfurling of the tricolour by Brigadier Sushil Bhasin, followed by the National Anthem. Principal Brni. Rekha introduced the guest. To celebrate the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, some of our teachers and our student leaders tied rakhis on the wrists of Swamiji and the Chief Guest, performed aarti, gave sweets and sought their blessings. It was indeed a joyous occasion.
“Simple living is the key factor in the pursuit of happiness,” said Brig. Bhasin, connecting instantly with the students with his energetic speech. His talk made the students ponder over three important values – freedom should not be taken for granted, simple living is the key to happiness, and self-discipline is of utmost importance for self-development. Swamiji used an apt Sanskrit shloka and shared his own life experiences to expand on the same theme. Two patriotic songs, a speech in English by Nidhi Shetty and a skit on Road Safety called Hamaari Suraksha Hamaari Haathon Mein conveying the message of “Safety First” were performed as part of the celebration. All the programmes received a lot of applause and appreciation from the guests as well as students. Brig. Bhasin felicitated the winners of Amrita Fest from classes VII-X by giving them certificates and medals.
The celebrations ended with the rendition of Vande Mataram and Shanti Mantra.
