ECO AND HERITAGE CLUB 2019

The main aim of the Eco and Heritage Club is to make students aware of the very important fact that the Earth gives us everything we need to sustain ourselves, as well as to teach them how to utilize these resources and ensure that we leave a clean footprint. The residual parts of fruits, vegetables, flowers  and leaves can be used as food for trees. A short video of a Compost Pit was shown to students of 3rd and 4th grades. Once they had understood the process, they were taken to the school grounds where a 2 foot pit had been prepared. The students filled the pit with fruit and vegetable peels, dried grass and flowers. Finally, soil was added which would be the last layer. Earthworms present in the soil which are nature’s ploughing agents will help in the composting process. This practical knowledge will undoubtedly help the students to understand that nothing goes to waste in Nature.
