GURUPURNIMA CELEBRATIONS 2019

“To be able to receive the Guru’s grace is the greatest blessing” – Brni. Rekha addressed the teachers with these profound words on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Teachers assembled early morning to participate in the Guru Purnima celebrations which was conducted in the auditorium on July 16, 2019. The programme began with the lighting of the auspicious lamp amidst the chanting of “Aum Amriteswaryai Namah”. They chanted the Guru Stotram with great reverence to Amma – Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Principal Brni. Rekha led everyone in chanting the Ashtotharam (108 names of Amma) to which everyone responded with “Aum Amriteshwari Namah” and offered flowers at the holy lotus feet of Amma.

In her talk, the Principal emphasized the importance of learning the innumerable lessons that life teaches us, which in itself is the greatest contribution to the “Guru”. She also stressed the need for inner evolution which slowly leads one to the awakening of the fullness in oneself. Through a short story of Shivaji Maharaj and Samarth Ramdas, she enlightened the teachers on the essence of guru bhakti and surrender which enables the grace of the guru to flow to oneself.

Students chanted Guru Stotram, and a special dedication to the Guru by the rendition of a melodious song by Anandamayi House students certainly filled the atmosphere with divinity. Brni. Rekha guided the teachers in meditation, after which the celebrations concluded with Aarthi and the chanting of Shanti Mantra. Teachers and students offered pushpanjali at Amma’s feet and were given prasad.
