AYUDH – Awaken Youth, Unite for Dharma

Students of classes 9, 10 and 12 attended an AYUDH workshop conducted on April 24th in the school auditorium. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Praveena and Ms. Jayasudha who are members of the national co-ordination team of AYUDH, and Ms. Srisadha, Mumbai Co-ordinator.

Founded in Kerala in 1985, AYUDH now has units across Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Australia.  It is open to youth between the ages of 15 and 35, of all religions, gender, and social and cultural backgrounds. AYUDH is active in more than 41 countries worldwide and 23 states in India.

The various social outreach activities conducted by AYUDH such as Personal Empowerment, Intercultural Exchange, Green Initiatives, etc. were shown to the students through a crisp audio visual presentation. Students interacted freely with the coordinators and shared their goals on contributing to society.  Active participation of students in the school’s Amritam Projects has instilled a  sense of social purpose at a very young age and has sensitized them towards the socio-economic needs of the immediate society.

A few Senior Secondary students of Amrita Vidyalayam had attended the AYUDH programme held at Amrita University’s Amritapuri campus last year.  These students still sounded excited as they shared the wonderful experiences and the enriching sessions they had attended. The knowledge gained by attending lectures of well accomplished personalities had left a lasting impression on the young minds.

Many students eagerly registered for the next AYUDH session and the coordinators were happy to note the excitement among the students of Amrita Vidyalayam.
