The safety and security of our students is of utmost priority for the school. Alertness and awareness are very essential to safeguard ourselves from the known and unknown dangers lurking around us at all times.
A 3-day self-defense workshop was conducted for the girls and boys of classes 4 to 10 in the school auditorium on September 6th, 7th and 10th. The workshop was led by Nilesh Jadhav who has won many awards in Taekwondo Championships, both at State and National levels. He was ably assisted by Rakesh Jadhav. They are currently Assistant Trainers in Raigad Taekwondo Association, Kalamboli village.
The workshop was conducted for girls and boys separately. After an initial warm up session, the students were shown different types of punches such as face punch, lower punch, etc. Routine life saving techniques such as knuckle rap, hair grip, knee attacks, how to free oneself from upper body and lower body grasps, etc. were introduced. The instructors also spoke about situations where people are targeted while they are engrossed on their phones. Precautionary measures, as well as how staying alert at all times while on the road and at home would ensure safety, were discussed with the students. The students participated enthusiastically and tried the self-defense techniques on their friends.
