Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din

The rich heritage of Maharashtrian culture was depicted splendidly by the teachers and students of Amrita Vidyalayam on the occasion of Marathi Bhasha Guarav Din. The entire assembly consisting of thought, news and pledge was conducted in Marathi on the occasion of  the birth anniversary of noted Marathi litterateur V.V. Shirwadkar alias ‘Kusumagraj’.

Students dressed in traditional “nav vaari” invited Principal Brni. Rekha and started the cultural program with the Marathi prayer song, “mansion menace manasasaha vagave” dedicated to humanity and the importance of education in one’s life. Students extolled the beauty of Matrubhasha through eloquent speeches outlining the culture, language and lifestyle of Maharashtra, the 3rd largest state in India.

Glorious tributes were paid to the two great Marathi Saints – Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram through the rendition of melodious ‘abhangs’  by Mrs. Aruna Honagekar and Mrs. Asawari Bhojane. Winners of Marathi Elocution competitions were felicitated by Brni. Rekha with medals and certificates. A power packed mono-act performance by Amey Desai of IVC  on the life of Sambhaji Raje enthralled the audience.

“Granth Dindi” – a celebration of Marathi classical books  was depicted by the young students, acknowledging the priceless contributions of Marathi saints, scholars and teachers. The program came to an end with “Labhale amhas bhagya, bolto Marathi..”- a soulful group song rendition by teachers which lingered in the ears and minds of all long after the program ended.
