INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2017-18

The Investiture Ceremony for the new academic session was held on June 9, 2017 at the school auditorium. This is the most prestigious ceremony among all school events. It was also the seventh consecutive Investiture Ceremony, and was celebrated with a lot of zest and enthusiasm.

The ceremony started with the lighting of the lamp by the newly elected Head Boy Manav Chauhan and Head Girl Amruta Ratheesh, followed by offering prayers at the holy lotus feet of Sadguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.

Principal Brni. Rekha in her address to the students gave the example of Amma who personifies the expression “Born Leader”. Amma has been a source of constant inspiration to her devotees worldwide through her attitude of giving oneself to others. “Amma believes in leading from the heart, and Her humanitarian activities throughout the years have touched the lives of many people and filled their lives with love and positive energy”, she added. Students were asked to seek inspiration from Amma’s life on how to serve others without expectations and fulfil one’s duties. She also asked the leaders to “think high”, and to be truthful to their positions without taking undue advantage of the powers bestowed upon them.

Names of the newly elected leaders for 2017-18 were announced – Head Boy Manav Chauhan, Head Girl Amruta Ratheesh, Junior Head Boy Atharva Kadam, Junior Head Girl Manisha Sahu, Sports Head Boy Aditya Dubey and Sports Head Girl Purvi Shetty. The House Mothers, School Captains and Vice-Captains for the respective houses were also announced during the ceremony.
Principal Brni. Rekha and Prabhuji conferred the elected representatives with their respective titles, and they were adorned with sashes and badges. The oath taking ceremony of the newly elected student council was led by the Principal. She invested them with their powers and responsibilities, reminding them that leadership meant working as a team, and following the code of conduct set by the school in maintaining discipline and upholding the values of the school. Class Mothers were also appointed who would guide students in discharging their responsibilities diligently. It was indeed a proud moment for Amrita Vidyalayam as the council members for the academic year 2017-18 were officially assigned their positions and powers.

The House Mothers’ along with the Captains, Head boy, Head girl, Sports Head Boy and Sports Head Girl shared their thoughts about taking on their esteemed responsibilities, and graciously thanked the School Management for giving them the opportunity to fulfil their promises. They also thanked their friends who had helped them through their journey, and promised to work hard towards maintaining the values set by the school. The House Mothers encouraged the students to participate in the various activities of the school which would help to bring out their potential. The colourful ceremony came to an end with the chanting of Shanthi Mantra.
