Adolescent Health Education for Girls

The school conducted a camp on Adolescent Health Education for girls from classes V to XI under the guidance of Principal Brni. Rekha on August 2, 2016.   During their formative years, adolescents are exposed to many influences, both external and internal. It is crucial that their curiosity about the physical, social and mental changes that occur during this stage are answered with the correct information. Ms. Resham Rajan and Ms. Varsha Waghoskar guided the girls in aspects of hormone related changes, puberty, hygiene, nutrition, exercise and many other issues. They patiently listened to the students and discussed the delicate issues faced by the girls.

Principal Ma’am warned the students about the perils of social networking sites. She strictly forbade them from befriending strangers online, posting inappropriate pictures, talking to strangers, and advised them about precautions to be taken while using public transportation. She also sensitized the girls about dressing appropriately.  She encouraged them to take part in as many competitions as possible which would keep their minds engaged fruitfully.

Students also learnt about “Good Touch and Bad Touch”. They were advised to set a limit while playing with boys, and not to indulge in games that involve physical contact. They were asked to learn to respect each other and always act responsibly and in a cultured manner.

The health camp was an interactive session which will help them to be aware and cautious at all times. The students were asked not to discuss problems with friends as they may get the wrong advice, and to confide only in their parents. The girls were very happy with the exceptionally informative session.
