EN’ROUTE SUCCESS

Amrita Vidyalayam, Juinagar, in collaboration with Friction Innovative Education LLP has initiated a step towards introducing “Progressive Curriculum” for standards V to X in an attempt to shape the thought process of children. A workshop on En’route Success was conducted by Friction Innovative Education LLP (FIE) for parents of students from grades IX and X on April 16, 2016 and for parents of students from grades V to VIII on June 11, 2016. The mission of Friction Innovation Education LLP (FIE) is to organize knowledge exchange programs catering to a large target segment ranging from children in schools to officials in the corporate world.

The curriculum is designed to “shape the way of thinking” of students.    In this competitive world where academic achievement or failure is seen in terms of high or low marks, the pressure on students to excel in all spheres is very high. In this race, the essence of life is lost. Just as repeated addition is multiplication, we should understand that repeatedly trying to succeed will eventually lead to success instead of branding it as failure. This is the type of thinking that is instilled in the students. The age-based curriculum is amalgamated in a bridge course manner into the school’s regular syllabus, wherein once a week for 1 hour the students are trained in psychologically understanding the essential truth that infinite potential lies within each one of them, and that everything is learnable.

The step by step process involves 3 steps – Aware, Accept and Apply. Academic vertical will ultimately cater to the expectations of society, but real success is achieved when each individual understands humanity. The STP (Student-Teacher-Parent) Model on which this works is very important as teachers and parents are equal contributors to the way the child thinks.  Along with the students, parents and teachers will be oriented on a regular basis to make sure that there is no conflict in their thought processes. The activity based teaching will comprise of proper logic and reasoning methods for the students to apply their minds effectively.  A quarterly report on each child will be sent home to help parents understand the effectiveness of this curriculum.

The parents were very excited that the school had come up with such an ambitious programme for their children, and seemed keen to extend all their support to make this a successful initiative.
