National Science Day is celebrated in India on February 28th every year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. This year, it was celebrated with great enthusiasm on February 26, 2016 at Amrita Vidyalayam, Juinagar.
Students of classes 7th and 8th put up an interesting Science Carnival where the younger students were introduced to a world of tricks, games and illusions, and the fundamental scientific laws behind each of them. The idea of experiential learning was taken to a new level where scientific phenomena such as Reflection, Refraction, Buoyancy, Surface Tension, Pressure and Optical Illusion were demonstrated and explained using scientific principles.
Children expressed their imagination by jotting them down on a “Tree of Ideas”. The carnival saw a unique amalgamation of arts, crafts and science, which would help to develop creativity in the children as well as strengthen scientific concepts.
