The Indian Association of Nuclear Chemists and Allied Scientists (INCAS), Mumbai organized a one-day workshop on “Radiochemistry and Application of Radioisotopes” on December 12, 2015 for the science students of XI and XII grades.
Dr. A.V.R. Reddy, eminent scientist from BARC (Retd.) along with two senior scientists from BARC conducted the programme. The purpose of this workshop was to create awareness among the students about the potential of radiochemistry and radioisotopes, and their applications from the time of discovery. It was also the aim of the workshop to remove misconceptions about radioactivity and radiation from the minds of students. Thus, the workshop not only added to the knowledge of the students, but also gave them an opportunity to discuss and interact with internationally acclaimed scientists. A lecture on “Introduction of Radiochemistry and Application of Radioisotopes’ by Dr. A.V.R. Reddy, and two practical sessions on “Radiation Detection and Measurements” helped the students to understand the recent advances in Research and Development in this field.
