The Podar Institute of Education, along with Busy Bee, organised an Anti Cracker Drive for students of classes I to IV on November 4, 2015. A puppet show was put together by the teachers of ‘Busy Bee’ for the children in an attempt to explain to them the importance of saving the environment.
The goal was to make them responsible, and to teach them how the toxic chemicals contained in the crackers affect the environment and wildlife. The children watched with keen interest as the show illustrated how the sounds produced by the crackers as well as the chemicals released by them hurt animals, birds and plants. They thoroughly enjoyed the playful manner in which this message was conveyed and pledged to stay away from crackers this Diwali.
Students were given Busy Bee badges with a message to refrain from using crackers this festive season and to celebrate a ‘Safe Diwali’.
